Happy Friday!

Let's get right to it: resumes are the worst, right?

Similar to cover letters and even personal statements, they're super important documents that you only need to know how to write at specific and infrequent times in life.

But to progress in your career and education, you're required to know how to do them well.

(No pressure)

And for working professionals, a curriculum vitae (CV) is a wild card document you may or may not have even heard of until you open a graduate school application.

So what's the difference between the two? Which one should you use to apply?

I've got you covered.

Today, let's dive into what resumes and CVs are, plus which option is best for your upcoming graduate school application.

This week’s highlights:

  • Your education affirmation

  • Resume vs CV: Which is better for your graduate school application?

  • You can thank Leonardo da Vinci ✍

Education affirmation.

"Learning is the only thing the mind never exhausts, never fears, and never regrets." - Leonardo da Vinci

Resume vs CV: Which is better for your graduate school application?

It ultimately depends on your professional experiences and the type of graduate program you’re pursuing.

As a working professional, you’ve likely created a resume to apply for an internship or full-time job.

You may have also heard of a CV (curriculum vitae), but if you’ve never explicitly been asked for one there has been no need to learn what they’re all about.

Before updating your resume or even creating a CV for your application, keep reading - I'll clarify:

  • What each of these documents are

  • Solid formatting tips for both

  • Which type you might use when applying to graduate school

Fun fact.

The first resume is 500+ years old.

(Pictures or it didn't happen? Check it out here and read the skills they shared).

Believe it or not, you know who wrote it, too: Leonardo da Vinci.

Looking to connect with your graduate school interviewers?

Share this fact with them - writing a resume/CV is a common experience that's perfect for small talk before jumping into Q&A.

As always, thanks for being here - make it a fantastic week!
