Welcome back! I hope it’s been an incredible week.

This week’s highlights:

  • Your education affirmation

  • 3 productivity tips for your life (and application process) ⌚️

  • Action steps for the next week

  • #EldestDaughterSyndrome

Education affirmation.

I strive to do my best every day.

On the Blog.

Applying to graduate school while working full time is a great primer for being back in school. On top of work, family and a social life, suddenly there is another strong pull for your time.

These 3 productivity hacks got me through the application process and graduate school while working. #3 is especially fun!

3 Productivity Hacks to Balance Work and Graduate School Applications 🍅

Application Action Steps.

Choose your own adventure 🚁

  1. Thinking about school in the future?

    • Open your “Future Education Opportunities” document and start a section for Test Requirements

    • (I know, even typing it can be anxiety inducing - take a deep breath, it’ll be ok!)

    • As you explore universities and programs in your area of interest, take note of the following:

      • Whether they require a standardized test (ex. GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT etc.)

      • The minimum score required - this might be on an admissions page, you can also call/email and ask

  2. Actively applying later this year?

    • Are you set on applying but haven’t taken the GRE?

    • You’re in luck, there are schools who have started waiving test requirements.

    • GradSchools.com has a full list of programs that do not require test scores to apply.

    • (Note: This site includes both non-profit and for-profit universities - do diligent research before committing to a for-profit school).

Fun fact.

Have you heard about Eldest Daughter Syndrome? (a trending hashtag, not clinical diagnosis).

Gendered stereotypes and subconscious expectations from parents might affect eldest daughters’ childhood experiences and future personality traits like perfectionism.

With rising percentages of women pursuing graduate education in the US, it would be fascinating to know how many are eldest daughters.

Quick question:

I’m developing a workshop on going back to graduate school for a local young professional organization and would love your input:

What was the first thing you Googled when you started thinking about going back to school?

  • Hit reply with your answer and help other working professionals on the same path 🚗

As always, whatever challenge you’re working through this week: You’ve got this.

p.s. thank you to everyone who responded last week!
