TEM #020: Scholarship TikTok is real.

December 1, 2023

Happy December!

I hope you had a smooth week after the bustle of Thanksgiving and the hustle of cyber week shopping. (Oh the thrill of getting 15% cash back on contact lenses!)

The plan here was to open The Application Shop last week, but I opted to spend a few more days with family since my sweet 97-year-old grandma’s mind is starting to fade.

One highlight: she told a nurse I had been on The Ohio State University’s board of trustees for over 10 years - she amazingly had the place and length of time right, my role helping students was just slightly different (ha!).

This week’s highlights:

  • Your education affirmation

  • Scholarship TikTok 💰

  • Making water wetter

  • WIN a 1:1 personal statement review!

Education affirmation.

I give myself credit for how far I’ve come.

Scholarship TikTok.

I recently found the Scholarship Guru (@espdaniella) and am excited to share her TikTok if you’re looking for ways to fund a graduate education.

Here are her recommended sites, these links highlight graduate school scholarships specifically:

p.s. She has resources for both college and graduate school (so send her profile to your favorite high school and college students, too 😉)

Fun fact.

Water can be made “wetter” to fight fires.

Special foams and wetting agents put out fire faster by soaking deeper into burning objects than normal water #LessonsInChemistry

Have a burning problem with your graduate school application? Drop me an email and I’ll help put it out.

Win a 1:1 Personal Statement Review!

🎓🎓🎓

As a thank you for being a part of The Education Mindset community, you have the opportunity to win a 1:1 Personal Statement Review with me - YAY!

This includes:

  • One 45-min call to discuss your application requirements, personal story and current personal statement

  • One 10-day review period

    • I'll review your statement (several times), then make comments and recommendations on: the clarity of your story, areas you can shorten or expand, whether you have a distinct narrative arc, and how well you've answered application questions from the reviewer's point of view (I've read thousands of applications, I know exactly what they're looking for)

    • You take a few days to read the recommendations and ask clarifying questions

    • I'll respond to your questions with additional guidance

This is a $350 value - your odds of winning are also high since not everyone reading this is applying this year 😉.

Enter to win by Wednesday, December 6 at 11:59pm EST.

Winner will be announced in The Education Mindset on Friday, December 8!

Make it an amazing weekend
